City council cracks a critical note about Hallenhoes in Exloo: ‘Transparency needed’

A new hall cover will be built on the site of the burned-out Bebinghehoes, which later housed the Turv distillery. The Saxon farm from 1722 burned down completely in 2017. The former owner of the distillery was killed. The municipality of Borger-Odoorn bought the site from the widow and commissioned the Exloo village council to develop the site.

The intention is that there will be a new hall cover with a village square. At the moment it is still a bare spot. It is the intention that space will be created for the Open Science Hub of Astron and the Tourist Information Point will also be housed there. In addition, entrepreneurs can temporarily rent a space and the information center of the sheep herd is willing.

The plans cost a total of 2.3 million euros. This amount is jointly paid by the municipality, province, subsidies from funds and the Het Plein Management Foundation. The plans are 400,000 euros more expensive due to rising construction costs.
