Circus Renz Berlin settles in Emmen: ‘Very cool’

For the fourth time after the relaxation of the corona measures, Circus Renz Berlin can go wild again. And from this Christmas, that will happen with a winter circus on the Stadionplein in Emmen.

Circus Renz has been entertaining the public for over 180 years. While the rain beats hard against the canvas of the large circus tent, visitors slowly pour in in Emmen.

“We are not completely sold out at Christmas,” says director Bernhard Renz Jr, the ninth generation of the well-known circus family. “But that is normal. Usually it starts later. We hope that will happen in the coming period.”

Since 2015, performing with wild animals has been banned in the Netherlands and Belgium, but spectacle is guaranteed. “We offer a beautiful performance for young and old. There is something for everyone. And winter makes this unique for the time of year. People can expect camels, horses, dogs and cats. Acrobats jumping past each other. “

After the corona years, the artists are also eager to perform again. “This is the fourth show since corona. We couldn’t do anything for 2.5 years. Finally we can go again and we are very happy with that. After the show we also celebrate Christmas with the family together. That is special and nice of course.”

Iris from New Amsterdam is very enthusiastic. “I think it’s really great how the acrobats all do arts through the hoop and on the trapeze. That’s really cool,” she says. “We also saw horses and camels. I’m here with my girlfriend and little brother and it’s really nice to come here for Christmas.”
