US bags and fashion label Coach is launching a sub-brand with a circular design philosophy and Gen Z focus.
The new label ‘Coachtopia’ focuses on circularity and collaborative creativity, the brand announced on Thursday. The Coach sub-brand also uses its own “Made Circular” design philosophy. Coachtopia’s cross-gender collection includes bags, shoes, accessories and is primarily made from recycled, reused and renewable materials to “completely rethink” the product lifecycle.
Each Coachtopia item comes with a digital pass. The pass can be accessed via an embedded NFC chip and provides customers with information about the materials used and the associated environmental impact.
Sustainability for Gen Z
Gen Z is at the heart of the brand’s circular efforts. The line is designed for a new generation of consumers who are increasingly committed to tackling the climate crisis and determined to lead the change, according to the release. To further involve this generation in the process and close the gap between a brand and consumers, Coachtopia plans collaborations that aim to involve Gen Z.
“We built Coachtopia as a whole new world within Coach – an agile startup with a mission to re-imagine the end-to-end system,” said Joon Silverstein, senior vice president of global marketing, creative and sustainability Coach and Head of Coachtopia. We not only build it for our customers, but with them.”
The sub-label is available now from Coach’s online store in the US, Canada and the UK, and is expected to launch in select Coach stores and Asia later this year. It is not yet known whether the brand will also be launched in other countries.
