Dafter the Claps case, arrives up tonight Rai 1 (at 9.20pm) another crime story that shocked Italy and gave birth, thanks to the feminist movement, to the law against sexual violence. The so-called “Circeo massacre” is told in Circeothe fiction by Andrea Molaioli with Greta Scarano.
It was October 1, 1975 when two girls, Rosaria Lopez and Donatella Colasanti, they were found locked in the trunk of a car in Viale Pola in Rome. They were raped and beaten in a villa on the Lazio coast by three students from Parioli and locked up naked in a white 127. Alone Donatella will be able to survive. From that moment on she will forever be “the girl from Circeo”.
Circeo: the plot of the first episode
October 1, 1975, 3.30 am. Two friends, Rosaria Lopez (Adalgisa Manfrida) e Donatella Colasanti (Ambrosia Caldarelli), are found in the trunk of a white 127 parked in Viale Pola in Rome, wrapped in a blanket and hugging each other. Only Donatella is alive. A few days before (September 29th) the teenagers prepare for an appointment with Stefano, Gianni and Carlo (in reality they are Angelo Izzo, Gianni Guido and Andrea Ghira), three twenty-year-olds from good families and militants of the neo-fascist movements. What was supposed to be an afternoon at the cinema turns into a day in a villa in Circeoon the Lazio coast.
There was supposed to be a partyhowever, for the two girls who dream of being actresses in photo novels, that day turns into a nightmare: they are raped and beaten bloody. Rosaria will not leave that place alive. Donatella instead begins her battle in court for her friend and to frame their tormentors. Accompanying her on this difficult journey is Teresa, a fictional character interpreted by Greta Scarano, which represents the synthesis of the lawyers who supported and gravitated around Donatella in that absurd period of her life.
The fight to change the law on sexual violence
Donatella’s trial against those daddy’s boys who turned her life upside down foreverturns into a symbolic process, in the name of changing a country. At the time if a woman was raped it was considered a crime crime against public morality and not against the person. With Donatella’s trial, the rights of all women were at stake.
The “survivor of Circeo” becomes a symbol of the feminist movement who takes to the streets to scream in the name of freedom and a law on rape. After that tragic event the law on sexual violence was reformed.
The real lawyer Tina Lagostena Bassi
Tina Lagostena Bassi she is the real lawyer who defended Donatella Colasanti at the trial. It will be thanks to her battles for the defense of women’s rights who broke the wall of silence on the subject of rape in the late 1970s, both in civil society and in courtrooms.
She became one of the members of Telefono Rosa and he was famous for having also defended the victim of the first rape trial broadcast by Raifollowed by 9 million viewers.
In the fiction, taken from an idea by Flaminia Gressi and from a story by Flaminia Gressi and Lisa Nur Sultan, and written by the two authors together with Viola Rispoli, Tina Lagostena Bassi is played by Pia Lanciotti. The lawyer is a point of reference for Teresa, who will try in every way to convince Donatella and her parents to report her three rapists.
Who is Teresa, played by Greta Scarano?
Teresa Capogrossi she was born into a Roman bourgeoisie family, her relationship with her parents is at odds. Since he began his legal journey together with Donatella she too will change her inflexible and severe attitude.
The woman is a feminist of her time: marriage and a domestic life are not among his plans. Donatella, a seventeen year old, who has the fire to live inside herwith his direct ways and his less political and more personal point of view on things, will lead her to better understand herself and who she wants to be.
