Cipollini, “injuries and threats to his ex-wife”: asked for 2 and a half years

The former cycling champion is accused of mistreatment: in the request for indictment, the prosecutor spoke of “acts damaging the physical and mental integrity” of the ex-wife hit with “punches, slaps, kicks, and death threats “. On 13 July it will be the turn of the defense

The prosecutor Letizia Cai of Lucca asked for two years and 6 months of sentence for the former world champion Mario Cipollini, accused in a trial for personal injury and threats to his ex-wife Sabrina Landucci. The prosecutor, in his indictment, calibrated the request over two years for the injuries and threats to the ex-wife, and another 6 months, instead, for the threats to the current partner of the woman, the former footballer Silvio Giusti. The accusation retraced the facts reported by Sabrina Landucci herself, by her brother, the former soccer goalkeeper Marco Landucci, and by Giusti himself. Cipollini has always rejected the accusations, both denying that he used violence against the woman and that he pointed a gun at her. The next hearing is scheduled for July 13 when it will be up to Cipollini’s defense.

The accusations

In the request for indictment, the prosecutor had spoken of “acts damaging the physical and mental integrity” of the ex-wife hit with “punches, slaps, kicks, and death threats”. The most serious episode, according to the prosecution, would have happened on January 6, 2017: “I was working in the sports center when Mario attacked me in public – said the ex-wife who then filed a complaint -. He grabbed me by the neck. and she banged my head against the wall. I had to go to the emergency room. But more than the wounds it was that violent gesture that hurt me. Even today I’m upset. ” In addition to the criminal conviction, the woman’s lawyer also asked for compensation of 80 thousand euros.
