A number of churches in the Netherlands have again set up a section in the church building where people can keep 1.5 meters away from each other. This is a measure to protect vulnerable people now that the number of corona infections is increasing again, according to the umbrella organization Protestant Church in the Netherlands (PKN).
The Interdenominational Contact in Government Affairs (CIO), which coordinates church affairs with the government, published a new guideline for corona measures on Tuesday. The government had, among other things, asked the churches to make such a guide to be prepared for an increase in corona infections in the winter. The churches have a lot to do with vulnerable groups, such as the elderly and lonely people. The CIO therefore calls on administrators to pay close attention to churchgoers with corona-related stress.
In addition to the usual hygiene measures such as disinfection pumps at the entrance, it is wise if churches also install walking routes in the building again. There must be sufficient space in rooms where meetings take place. Meetings can also be held digitally again.
The CIO has also drawn up stricter and even emergency measures. These will only apply if the government comes up with corona measures again.
