The nasal vaccine against coronavirus can be dangerous for human organs. This was stated by virologist, director of the US Center for Global Virological Network Konstantin Chumakov in the program “Advise, doctor!” on Radio Russia.
The specialist drew attention to the fact that the nose is connected to the brain by the olfactory nerve. In this regard, nasal vaccines are unsafe, because this nerve virus or the antigen can get into the brain. Medicines of this kind undergo a very large safety assessment, Chumakov noted.
At the same time, the vaccine, which is administered intramuscularly, cannot affect vital organs. Thus, the central nervous system is protected, the virologist said.
Professor of Virology, Chief Researcher at the Gamaleya Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology Anatoly Alshtein noted that there is no reason to believe nasal vaccine dangerous. According to him, it does not contain an active replicating virus, so the medicine will not go into the brain after injection.
Konstantin Chumakov also noted that COVID-19 is weakening, but at the same time becoming more contagious. The virus will evolve, and human immunity will continue to strengthen.
The expert also stated that “omicron” eight times more infectious than the flu. This is judged by the so-called reproductive number.
