Chronically ill Kelly finds support and new motivation thanks to Buurtfamilies Heemskerk

The past year was difficult for 42-year-old Kelly Katinka from Heemskerk. Being ill for a long time and raising a son with ADHD meant that she could no longer keep her balls up. Last year, Kelly was also urgently admitted due to her chronic intestinal disease.

It was quite a hurdle to seek help for Kelly. Through a friend she came into contact with the Heemskerk Neighborhood Families Foundation. She was skeptical at first, but eventually she took the step to contact us.

Through the foundation, Kelly and Tygo were linked to supportive mother Chantal van Dop and her son Djayden. Tygo now visits the support family every Friday afternoon and Sunday.

Demand and support families

At the Buurtgegezinen Heemskerk foundation, someone can register as a requesting family or support family. They will work for you to find a suitable match.

Do you need extra support for your family and do you live near Beverwijk or Heemskerk? Or would you like to register as a support family, just like Chantal? You can register via the Neighborhood Families website.
