“Oppenheimer” grossed over $912 million – the second highest-grossing film of the year so far. For those who haven’t made it to the cinema in the last few months, the film will soon be available to watch at home. “Oppenheimer” will be available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, DVD and digital from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment beginning November 22nd.
A look behind the scenes
The 70-minute film shows the intention and story behind physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, who, as head of the Manhattan Project, invented the atomic bomb in 1945. “Oppenheimer” takes the audience into the development process of the bomb, which the “father of the atomic bomb” aka the real Oppenheimer originally allegedly created as a weapon against a supposed bomb threat from the Nazis. In addition to an accompanying “NBC News” documentary that gives an idea of how the film was made, the additional material also includes interviews with the director and the cast.
Between film and reality
In addition to exclusive scenes, there will also be a panel discussion. In the conversation moderated by Emmy Award winner Chuck Todd, Nolan, Nobel Prize winner Dr. Kip Throne, the physicist Dr. Carlo Rovelli, Dr. Thom Mason (director of the Los Alamos National Laboratory) and Kai Bird — the Pulitzer Prize-winning co-author of the book “American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer,” on which the film is based — about the film adaptation of the story of the atomic bomb.
“Oppenheimer” is considered the most successful biopic of all time due to its high box office grosses. The previous record breaker was the Queen film “Bohemian Rhapsody”.
