Christopher Nolan would like to make James Bond films in a historical setting

Christopher Nolan has already appeared as a guest in Happy Sad Confused Podcast expressed his interest in the role of director for a James Bond film. Now he’s speaking “World of Reel” about his ideas – and possible implementation.

The Oppenheimer director reports that he is currently in talks with Bond producer Barbara Broccoli to discuss the possible collaboration. There is currently talk of “two or three films”.

In principle there is nothing standing in the way of production, but Nolan is said to have expressed some conditions regarding his creative freedom in the implementation of the films that are not yet in line with the production company’s ideas.

According to the report, Christopher Nolan imagines a faithful film adaptation of the Ian Fleming novels in a historical setting of the 1950s, while EON Productions is planning a “reboot for the modern era”.

It has not yet been officially announced who will direct the next James Bond film, nor who will replace Daniel Craig as the previous James Bond actor. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Regé-Jean Page and Damson Idris are currently believed to be the new cast for James Bond.

Speaking about his desire to make a James Bond film, Nolan said: “The influence of these films in my filmography is embarrassingly obvious. It would be an incredible privilege to make a film like this. At the same time, when you take on such a character, you have to work with a number of restrictions.” The 53-year-old continued: “It has to be the right moment in your creative life when you can express what you want to express and really get into something, within the appropriate limits, because you would never do something like that want to take over and do it wrong.”
