This clip will polarize: At the end of the Rammstein concert in Munich, Christoph Schneider is overwhelmed by emotions. The drummer says goodbye to the cheering fans at the front of the stage. He tries to hold back the tears, touches his face. Then he does the “Ohne Dich” Rammstein kneeling.
Although of course only Schneider himself will know why he cried (at least he didn’t cry at previous concerts), fans and critics naturally make assumptions: Was it the pressure on the band in the wake of the allegations of abuse against Till Lindemann? Some users don’t take Schneider’s tears away, believing they know that no one close to Lindemann could have been unaware of the allegations.
According to his colleague Flake, Christoph Schneider is “the most disciplined and unpretentious member of the band”. The 57-year-old was a founding member of Rammstein in 1994 and later cut off his long hair, as he says, so that his drumming wouldn’t become too “metal-heavy”.
The fact that the video was posted by a Belgian fan account can be understood as a gesture of solidarity:
A very emotional Christoph Schneider who thanks all the fans with all his heart.
