Christmas market in Ypres unpacks with ‘Christmas tigloos’
There are now Christmas igloos on the Grote Markt. There you can meet up with family or friends over a drink. It’s ideal weather to look up the warmth in an igloo. The igloos are an energy-saving alternative to the ice rink. It’s something new and the city hopes these bubble tents will catch on. Ypres thus puts the consumption to the trade.
You can go to seven chalets for a varied range of gifts, Santa hats, scarves and trinkets for under the Christmas tree. And a so-called drop room also belongs to a Christmas market.
It was difficult for the organizer of the Christmas market to find enough operators after last year. The Ypres Christmas market was not a commercial success with two weeks of rain. But Danny and Nadine are confident: “We don’t try to do the masses of everything, but something specific for the people. A nice Christmas present that is not too pricey.”
The Ypres Christmas market runs until January 10th.
