It will take more than two months before Christmas, but at Theo Theeke, nicknamed Santa Theo, it is already Christmas. His apartment in Schijndel is completely packed with Christmas stuff and decorations. Theo has about 130 banana boxes full of stuff. He calls it a ‘hobby that got out of hand’.
Theo opens the door to his apartment in style. Santa Theo, dressed as Santa Claus, welcomes his guests. Already in the hallway it becomes clear that it is a hobby that has gotten quite out of hand. Because the hallway and even the bedroom of his apartment are full of Christmas stuff. Theo calls it a Christmas paradise, who inherited his father’s love for Christmas: “We never celebrated Sinterklaas at home.”
“I’ll turn off the lights during the day.”
You can just walk through the stuff in Theo’s living room. There is only room for a small sitting area. Furthermore, the entire living room, including the kitchen, is occupied by Christmas items. Of course, this also includes a lot of Christmas lights. With the soaring energy prices perhaps a problem after all. But Santa Theo doesn’t care. “During the day and when I’m alone I turn off the lights, but yes it is a hobby”.
Since the beginning of September, Santa Theo has been busy furnishing his Christmas apartment. And now that it is completely full, he is not even completely ready: “There is more to come”, he says.
“Theo becomes a different person when his home turns into a Christmas apartment.”
Interested parties can come and have a look by appointment. For the time being, Theo will be among the Christmas stuff for a while, because it will only be demolished at the beginning of January. Theo is now in his element. “When his house is converted into a Christmas apartment, Theo becomes a different person,” says a friend.
