SIt will take place on Christmas Eve, Sunday 24 December, at midday, in front of the Central Station, to be precise in front of the Hotel Gallia. Christmas for homeless people is a time of extraordinary solidarity, brotherhood and spirituality, which City Angels has been organizing for 29 years. «The station’s homeless people will be present, some of whom sleep there», explains Mario Furlan, founder of the City Angels, «But we invite all Milanese to participate in this moment, which embodies the Christmas spirit of love and union».
City Angels and homeless people’s Christmas, between interreligious prayers…
Appointment, therefore, at noon, with interreligious prayer. Don Claudio Burgio, the priest who welcomes fragile and problematic young people into his community, will pray together. Imams Maryan Ismail, President of the Italian Islamic Union, and Khaled Elhediny. Chazanim rabbis Valentino Yakov Cameroni and Vittorio Efraim Signorini. Evangelical Methodist Church pastor Sophie Langeneck. The abbot of the Greek Orthodox church Father Evloghios Legnazzi, together with the Orthodox monks Father Kirill and Father Ionut. And the Buddhist monk Cesare Milani.
To seek not what divides, but what unites. And to bring a message of hope in this difficult moment for the world. “We will pray in particular for the Middle East, for Ukraine and for Iranian women” says Furlan.
… hot meals and music
After the prayer, at 12.30, they will be distributed hot meals (offered by the restaurateur Mattia Bigi) and food to the homeless. In particular, Coop Lombardia will donate its panettone to them and the philanthropist Adolfo Vannucci will bring a 5 kilo one. In the meantime, City Angels’ rocker testimonial, Omar Pedrini, will sing some of his songs.
And on January 6th the Befana dei Clochard also returns
Saturday 6 January at midday, the Befana del Clochard also returns to the Principe di Savoia hotel. 200 homeless people will have lunch in the most luxurious hotel in Milan, served by institutional figures and City Angels testimonials. The City Angels testimonials Enrico Beruschi, Alberto Camerini, Stefano Chiodaroli, Marco Ferradini, Tessa Gelisio, Candida Livatino, Leonardo Manera, Alviero Martini, Susanna Messaggio, Clara Moroni, will be present as waiters wearing the City Angels bib. Folco Orselli, Omar Pedrini, Alex Peroni, Cochi Ponzoni, Edoardo Raspelli, Memo Remigi, Rosmy, Ivana Spagna.
Present also the world of politics, in a bipartisan way. From Pierfrancesco Majorino to Gabriele Albertini, from Letizia Moratti to Pierfrancesco Maran, to Elisabetta Aldovrandi: many members of the institutions who will serve at the tables. For the occasion it will arrive from Montecarlo the personal chef of Prince Albert of Monaco, Christian Garcia, to prepare lunch for the homeless.
