Christmas Day ends with violence: three men in Volendam assaulted after going out

Three men were assaulted on Berend Demmerstraat in Volendam on the night of Monday to Tuesday between 2:10 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. while they were on their way home after going out. An 18-year-old man from Waterland was taken to hospital with injuries.

The three men were on their way home when they were approached by four others in a parking lot on CJ Conijnstraat, after which the atmosphere quickly changed, according to the police. The group had now been moved to Berend Demmerstraat, where the three men were abused by the foursome.

After the assault, the group of four fled in a gray car. The police say it is not clear in which direction the car drove away.

Hopital

The other victims, a 21-year-old man from Waterland and a 20-year-old man from Landsmeer, were also checked by ambulance personnel. According to the police, they did not have to be taken to hospital. The 18-year-old man was injured and had to be taken to hospital. Nothing is known about his injuries.

The police are looking for witnesses and possible camera images of CJ Conijnstraat, Meergracht and Berend Demmerstraat between 2:10 am and 2:30 am.
