Christine Wijshake from Vledder has not lasted a year as director of the Wadden Association. She had been in office since January 1, succeeding Lutz Jacobi.
The board and Wijshake have come to the conclusion that “what the organization needs and what Christine brings to the role of director is not in line at the moment”, reports Omrop Friesland. Her position will be taken over by marine ecologist and project leader Wouter van der Heij for the time being.
In November, Wijshake said she was still looking forward to her new job. “I am really looking forward to working with employees, the board, the members’ council, the members and all those other enthusiasts of the Wadden to preserve our world heritage.”
