Christine Stille in her own party Lokaal Noordenveld

Christine Stille from Roden will continue in Noordenveld politics under her own flag. This week it was announced that she had been put on hold by Lijst Groen Noordenveld. Today Stille announced that he would take a seat on the council under the name Lokaal Noordenveld.

Stille, who received 125 votes as number 2 during the last elections, would have come up with plans that were contrary to the ideas of Lijst Groen Noordenveld. According to former party leader and co-founder Henk Koekkoek, she set her own course during the campaign and there was no communication about it.

‘Difficult decision’

Stille calls her departure from LGN a difficult decision. “But it is a necessary decision for me to stick to my own integrity, standards and values,” she said in a statement.

According to Stille, there has recently been a difference of opinion within LGN about the way of doing politics. “Unanimity within the group is nice, but should not be at the expense of integrity, freedom of voting and contact with fellow council members,” said Stille.

Stille indicates that LGN’s election program will continue to guide its course.

‘Gorgeous sin’

Henk Koekkoek reacts resignedly on behalf of the board of Lijst Groen Noordenveld. “This was one of the options, we knew that in advance. Every councilor in the Netherlands is free to make such a choice.”

He thinks it’s a pity. “A huge shame. We hoped that she would start a conversation with the board, but she chose not to. We have been able to work well together in recent years.”

Koekkoek is not surprised that LGN’s election program will continue to guide Stille’s council work. “She co-wrote our program. We don’t differ much in terms of content, but communication has not been going well lately. In the long run, a limit has been reached.”
