Fleetwood Mac’s Christine McVie passed away on November 30, 2022 at the age of 79 and her cause of death was unknown. Now it has been officially clarified: McVie died of an ischemic stroke. This is a cerebral infarction caused by a sudden loss of blood flow to the brain tissue. In most cases, a narrowing or blockage of the arteries supplying the brain is the cause of the undersupply. In addition, doctors have found cancer cells in McVie’s body, the origin of which they could not pinpoint.
The singer, songwriter and keyboarder left behind a musical life’s work that continues to have an impact even after her death. She sang Fleetwood Mac hits like “Hold Me” from the 1982 album Mirage. She wrote many of the band’s most popular songs. You Make Loving Fun (1977), Say You Love Me (1975) and Everywhere (1987) are all penned by her.
The death of the British musician at the end of last year not only saddened fans from all over the world. Artists also paid tribute to Christine McVie after her death. In a statement, Fleetwood Mac said there are no words that could describe how sad the band is at the death of their former member. She was the “best musician you can have in your band”.

Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt and former band member Mick Fleetwood performed Songbird at the 2023 Grammy Awards. Stevie Nicks concluded her first live performance after the death of her colleague and longtime friend with the song “Landslide”, also written by McVie.
