Director Christian Petzold tells of the danger of a forest fire on the Baltic Sea, of four young people, their sexual tension and self-doubt.
THE STORY: Leon (Thomas Schubert) and Felix (Langston Uibel) want to work undisturbed in a holiday home on the Baltic Sea. But then Nadja (Paula Beer) and sexual partner Devid (Enno Trebs) show up. Sexual tension meets Leon’s insecurity. And a forest fire is getting closer.
THE DIRECTOR: Christian Petzold won the Director’s Bear for “Barbara” in 2012.
THE STARS: Paula Beer won the 2020 Berlinale Actor’s Prize for Petzold’s “Undine”. Thomas Schubert shot with him for the first time.
BG RATING: No German director explores interpersonal tensions and passions as well as the driving forces of the unsaid as skillfully as Petzold. “Red Sky” is another masterpiece by an exceptional director.
