Neidhart is “looking forward to the new task”
“I’m really looking forward to my new job at SV Waldhof Mannheim. The conditions are there to take the next steps with the club. We have ambitious goals that we want to tackle with diligence and hard work starting with the preparation.” , Neidhart looked ahead.
The football teacher was surprisingly released from his former employer in Essen at the beginning of May. Two games before the end of the season. However, a clause in the contract between Neidhart and RWE made the whole thing complicated: Because RWE managed to get promoted to the 3rd division – without Neidhart – the contract of the released coach was automatically extended until June 30, 2023. The 53-year-old was suddenly bound by contract. Now the parties involved have come to an agreement.
Neidhart: Impressive successes in Meppen and Essen
The fact that the native of Braunschweig was released in Essen does not have to cause frowns among the Waldhof fans. Neidhart has been with RWE since July 2020, winning 62 and drawing 18 out of 89 games. Only nine defeats in almost two years is a more than decent record.
His previous work as coach of SV Meppen was similarly impressive. In seven years there, promotion to the 3rd division was achieved in 2017. Opponent in the promotion games was then the SV Waldhof. Meppen prevailed in the second leg in a penalty shoot-out.
