Lewis Hamilton has become perhaps the best F1 driver of all time in the world at Mercedes. Christian Hornerilla there was once an opportunity to capture the British Red Bull, but he did not.

– Lewis and I have had a couple of discussions over the years. From 2010 to 2013, he was very interested in coming to Red Bull, Horner revealed Daily Mail in an interview.

Sebastian Vettel dominated the F1 series in the bull stable at the time, so Horner told Hamilton “no thanks”.

– It wouldn’t have made sense for the two alpha drivers, Horner explains.

When Red Bull could not find a place, Hamilton turned his gaze toward Mercedes. Mersulla Niki Lauda was interested in British driving.

– I remember encouraging him to take Hamilton. We fought McLaren back then, and they had the fastest car in 2012. We thought Lewis would be less of a threat to us at Mercedes.

It was a bad mistake that Horner now admits himself.

– You could say that decision crashed into my own ankle.
