Could identify with Liverpool
Captain Christian Günter would have nothing against ending his career at SC Freiburg. “Although I never rule anything out, I think everyone can imagine that I would also like to end my career here,” he said in an interview with the magazine “Sports Illustrated”.
The national player has been under contract with the Breisgau Bundesliga club since 2007, has spent his entire professional career there and signed a new working paper again in March 2021. The term of the new contract is not known. “For me there was never anything that made me think: This really appeals to me now or it will help me a lot in terms of sport,” said Günter.

A club where the left-back would start thinking would be the English top club Liverpool FC. “It also stands for continuity,” explained the 29-year-old. “I would be lying if you said I ruled it out in the first place if I got the chance to play there. In the club’s internal ranking of record players, the left-footed player, who was part of the German World Cup squad in Qatar but did not play, ranks second with a total of 362 appearances – in terms of Bundesliga games he is even the front runner.
