In fact, it was designed between 1900 and 1903 by the American painter and poet Elihu Vedder, one of the leading exponents of the symbolist movement. After making the Villa Four Winds, Vedder moved into this magnificent space. And he remained there until his death in 1923. Soon after, the residence was sold to Earl Earl Brewster and thus became the place where the celebrated writer DH Lawrence wrote the novel Lady Chatterley’s lover.
