The horror film ‘American Psycho’ – in which Bale plays serial killer Patrick Bateman – has since become a cult hit. When the film was canned, the makers did not have such a success in mind. “I earned super little during those recordings,” the actor recalls. “It was really about the absolute minimum wage. I was living with my father and sister at the time and could barely pay the bills. I was even afraid that they would seize my house.”
Bale discovered that he was earning very little when he took care of himself in the make-up department. “The makeup artists laughed at me because even they got more money,” said the actor.
