It has been six months since Russia invaded its neighbor Ukraine. For that reason, Op1 not only had the Ukrainian Vita de Geus-Kovalenko at the table yesterday, but also David van Weel, assistant secretary general at NATO. They discussed the current situation and what still needs to be done.

Chris interferes

At a certain point Chris Zegers also thought he should get involved in this geopolitical subject. “I think it is terrible that Ukraine is a victim of at least ehhh ehhh Russia and is also a victim of the ehh geopolitics, I think also of the West,” said the presenter of travel programs at the NPO.

He continues: “I think that ehhh that must be a very high priority there, also for NATO to keep in ehh consultations with Russia. I see here ehh eh increasing all kinds of ehh military numbers etcetera, but isn’t it the biggest solution to seek priority in the consultations?”

“This is propaganda!”

Chris thinks we should contact the Russians as soon as possible. “We need to get in touch with the Russians in order to find a solution here so that Ukraine is no longer the victim. Instead of continuing to elevate ehh the polemic.”

Absolute nonsense, responds David van Weel. He has the idea that the presenter has been influenced by propaganda from Russia. “The idea that Ukraine is a victim of the politics of the West is really a Kremlin narrative. That comes straight from their propaganda.”

Evil with Evil

Vita is also not happy with Chris’ involvement. “As a Ukrainian, I also want to add: at this stage you have to fight evil with evil. It might have helped in the beginning, but now there have been so many victims. The people are not willing to talk. You can stay in agreement, but then they will conquer two other provinces.”

Chris: “You can’t reward Putin taking 20 percent of a country with brutal violence and human rights violations by saying: ‘We’re going to talk as long as it stops now.’ This is not the time and I understand that.”

stupid idiot

Telegraaf columnist Nausicaa Marbe lashes out at Chris. “I heard that Toksjows are looking for celebrities who can talk about ‘everything’. This gullible Zegers, unhampered by knowledge and awareness of Russian disinformation, says that Ukraine is a victim of the West. Cobbler stick to your last. Good that others corrected that idiocy,” she tweeted.

And one Rob tweeted: “In Op1, Chris Zegers unabashedly expresses the Russia narrative that NATO and Ukraine owe the invasion to themselves. With a Ukrainian woman next to her, who has just told her that her family is also taken. unbelievable. What a jerk.”
