Chris Rock appeared at the Fantasy Springs Resort casino in Indio, California on April 8, 2022 and opened his show by discussing Will Smith’s slap in the face at this year’s Oscars. Although the comedian did not comment in detail on the scandal and its consequences, he named a basic condition for a detailed statement:

“I’m fine, I have a full show of my own and I won’t talk about it until I get paid. Life is good. I’ve got my hearing back,” Rock said. In other words: health-wise, things are looking up again for him after the slap in the face. And the Oscar bell doesn’t really fit his new stand-up program “Ego Death World Tour”.

Analysis of the Oscar clamp:

Also on April 8th The Academy of Motion Picture Arts decided that the Oscars will be held without Will Smith for the next ten years: he will not receive any more invitations from the Academy until 2032. However, Will gets to keep his prize; theoretically it is also possible that he will be nominated again by then. Smith was brief in his reaction to the Academy’s decision: “I accept and respect the Academy’s decision.”
