Nothing was heard from Chris Rock for weeks. After those few seconds at the Oscars that changed his life, and certainly Will Smith’s, too, the comedian kept his thoughts on the event that long dominated the headlines to himself.
During an appearance on Thursday (May 12) in London’s Royal Albert Hall, he could not resist commenting.
“I’m fine, in case anyone was wondering,” he said. Only to then point out, “I’ve got most of my hearing back.”
No confession, no words of anger
However, those who expected Rock to go further were disappointed. “People expect me to talk about the bullsh*t, I won’t talk about it now, I will eventually, on Netflix,” he said.
Chris Rock addressed Will Smith’s slap in the face during a standup show in Boston just days after the Academy Awards ceremony. “How was your weekend?” he asked at the beginning of his performance. “I’m still processing what happened. So someday I’m gonna talk about this shit. And it will be serious and fun.”
And potentially very profitable as time goes by and the longer Will Smith is on a self-selected therapy sabbatical. Maybe the big interview with Oprah Winfrey is coming soon. Or a satirical version of what happened – on Netflix.
