Coldplay have been on the Music of the Spheres world tour since March 2022. Now the band has to cancel eight concerts because singer Chris Martin is suffering from pneumonia. Catch-up dates are not yet known.
In an Instagram post on Oct. 4, the band announced: “It is with great regret that we are forced to postpone our upcoming shows in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo to early 2023. Due to a serious lung infection, Chris was placed on strict medical rest for the next three weeks. We are optimistic that Chris will recover after the mandatory medical break and look forward to resuming touring as soon as possible.”
In the course of the release of the current album “Music Of The Spheres” (2021), Coldplay played several gigs in Berlin and Frankfurt this summer. Their tour is scheduled to end in Buenos Aires with ten concerts. In addition, the band announced a worldwide live stream from the Argentine capital at the beginning of September for October 28th and 29th – and not online, but directly in the cinemas. It remains to be seen whether Martin will be healthy again by then.
