Chris Martin stops Coldplay concert in London

Coldplay singer Chris Martin had to cancel the Coldplay concert at London’s Wembley Stadium on Sunday (21 August) because the fans, at least in his field of vision, were constantly using their smartphones to film the performance. He urged viewers to put away their smartphones. Coldplay are currently on a world tour.

During the concert in London, the band had enough – they stopped their performance in the middle of “A Sky Full of Stars”.

A concert-goer posted a video on TikTok of Chris Martin interrupting his performance to appeal to the audience: “Let’s try to do just one song without phones and without cameras for once. Nothing but the power of humans, just us humans. Let’s see how high you can jump without cellphones, how loud you can scream,” Martin said.

“People should enjoy the moment instead of pulling out their phones”

After the singer announced his wish, Coldplay were able to continue the show. Fans put away their smartphones and focused on what was happening in front of them. Other users also commented on their opinion under the TikTok clip. One wrote, among other things: “People should enjoy the moment instead of pulling out their phones”.

Coldplay are currently touring the UK. In September the band will go to Latin America and finally a return to Europe is planned for May 2023. Concerts in Germany are not known for the time being.
