Chris Evert reports from the hospital bed: third round of chemotherapy

Former tennis star Chris Evert reported during her chemotherapy. She makes an appeal to her fans.

She was supposed to report on the Australian Open. Instead, tennis legend Chris Evert is back in the hospital. In December she announced that her cancer had returned. Now there was a call from the sickbed.

“My 3rd round of chemo. Halfway done. A reminder to get checked, know your family history and be your own advocate for your health. Early detection is crucial,” she wrote on Instagram. “Lots of love from Australia,” commented the tournament’s official account.

Legendary rivalry with Martina Navratilova

The 69-year-old had previously announced that cancer cells had been found in her pelvic region. These were removed and chemotherapy was started. Evert won at least one Grand Slam tournament every year between 1974 and 1986 and can look back on a total of 18 major titles. Her rivalry with Martina Navratilova had a significant impact on the sport.

She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in January 2022. Evert’s younger sister, Jeanne Evert Dubin, died of complications from the disease in February 2020 at the age of 62.
