Tennis legend, 18-time Grand Slam winner, Chris Evert, announced that he has relapsed from cancer that he suffered two years ago and that he had to undergo surgery to remove the cancer cells.

“The cancer has returned,” Evert announced in a statement broadcast by the American channel ‘ESPN’ where the former tennis player acts as a commentator. “Is he diagnosis that I never wanted to hear,” acknowledges one of the best tennis players in history.

Despite the initial shock, the American stated that “once again I feel lucky it was detected in time“, just as happened to her in 2020, when she had to face this same ovarian cancer that was then detected in phase 1.

“Last week I underwent a new robotic surgery based on positron emission tomography. The doctors found cancer cells in the same pelvic area. All the cells were removed and I started a new round of chemotherapy,” Evert explained.

On the other hand, he wanted to launch a recommendation to try to prevent the disease. “I encourage everyone to know their family history and advocate for themselves. Early detection saves lives. Give thanks for your health this holiday season,” he noted.
