Choreo trouble at FC Schalke 04

The Gelsenkirchen police complained about a loss of confidence after the glitch in the Schalke fan choreography in the home game against SC Freiburg (0:2) and announced consequences.

Schalke fans “contrary to the agreements” ignited blue smoke under a huge banner. This was unintentionally pulled into the penalty area when the banner was lowered, which led to an interruption of the game.

“Since the police and fire brigade see a loss of trust in this action, they agreed during the game that they would no longer agree to the club’s security concept for the time being as soon as choreographies were registered,” said a statement on Sunday evening. In such a case, the games would have to be played without a valid security concept.

During the choreography, the smoke had turned a huge, initially white jersey blue. This was not part of the safety briefing, the police complained, burning off pyrotechnics is a health hazard.

Corresponding criminal proceedings have already been initiated.
