Three goalkeepers and 23 field players: Hansi Flick has announced the squad for the World Cup finals in Qatar (November 20 to December 18).
With the exception of Bayern star Leroy Sané, who was plagued by knee problems beforehand, the national coach can draw on unlimited resources at the eagerly awaited World Cup opener against Japan.

At the controversial tournament in the desert, Flick primarily relies on Antonio Rüdiger, Niklas Süle, Nico Schlotterbeck and Matthias Ginter for central defence. “We have four central defenders of enormous quality,” said Flick.
Thilo Kehrer and Armel Bella-Kotchap are also available for the position in the defense center.
In midfield, Mario Götze, World Cup hero from 2014, can once again provide “flashes of inspiration”. The Eintracht Frankfurt professional made his last international match in 2017.
Completely new to the DFB squad, however, are Niclas Füllkrug from Werder Bremen and BVB youngster Youssoufa Moukoko, two attackers who are supposed to replace the injured Timo Werner.
Traditionally, the largest block in the World Cup squad is FC Bayern, which has seven players. BVB is represented by five national players. Eintracht Frankfurt, RB Leipzig and SC Freiburg each send two players to Qatar for Germany. Six DFB players earn their money abroad.
