Will it be Veul Gère again? Or Lamme Frans? Or perhaps a song that has not yet seen the light of day? In any case, the one and only search for the carnival cracker of the year has begun. Registration for Kies Je Kraker 2024 is now open.
Every year we go to Roeptoetgat – that’s the name of Omroep Brabant during carnival time – in search of the best Shrove Tuesday songs. An expert jury will choose the 33 best songs from a large pile of entries at the end of this month. The public can then cast their vote. This happens in two rounds.
The eventual winner of the coveted title will be announced during 3 Uurkes Vurraf, which traditionally marks the start of the Brabant carnival on Friday. This year it is on February 9, but most carnival lovers have probably already known that.
The winner will join a nice list of big names. Like Lamme Frans and Veul Gère. But Vieze Jack, De Dorini’s, Johnny Gold, Deurzakkers and many others have also won the Choose Your Kraker trophy. Last year the prize went to Gullie & Lanterfantje with Ladders Zat.
You can participate by sending your song to [email protected]. Preferably via WeTransfer and in .WAV format. Immediately send some extra information: who are you, where does the song come from, and so on.
