CHIO start: Vice-champion Tebbel is second

The German Vice Champion Maurice Tebbel took second place as the best German in the opening event of the CHIO Aachen.

With his gelding Quasi Top, the Emsbürener only had to admit defeat to the Swede Evelina Tovek. As the last starter, Daniel Deußer (Wiesbaden) also showed a flawless ride in the individual round after time and penalties and finished fourth.

Jörne Sprehe (Fürth) managed a small surprise in eighth place, the 40-year-old also remained flawless and was ultimately directly ahead of David Will (Dagobertshausen/9th place), former world champion Simone Blum (Zolling/10th), and Jens Baackmann (Münster/ 11).

Gerrit Nieberg (Sendenhorst), last year’s winner in the Grand Prix of Aachen, was third of the 47 starters on the course. Although he made no mistakes, he missed the top ten in 14th place. In front of him was the three-time Aachen winner Ludger Beerbaum (Riesenbeck), the German champion Marcus Ehning (Borken) was 16th.
