A chimney collapsed during construction work on Monday morning on Zionskirchstrasse in Berlin-Mitte.

As the fire brigade announced, the chimney of a five-storey residential building in Zionskirchstraße collapsed at around 10:20 a.m. during construction work. According to BZ information, the chimney fell straight into the attic.

The fire brigade was on site eight minutes after the emergency call. However, she was only able to salvage one person dead from the rubble. Two people were also slightly injured and taken to the hospital.

The fire brigade did not provide information on the sex and age of the people. It is not yet known how the collapse happened.
