Chilean hostage (41) escapes from home in The Hague after two weeks: man jumps from three high and reports to police | Bizarre

A 41-year-old man from Chile has been held hostage for more than two weeks in a house in the Dutch city of The Hague, where he was severely beaten, according to police. The Chilean escapes his kidnappers when he promptly jumps out of the window from three high on September 26 and presents himself to the nearest police station with a broken back, broken hip and burns.

The man arrived by train at Rotterdam Central on Wednesday 7 September around 8.30 pm. He said he was there for a short business trip. At the side of the station, he unsuspectingly gets into a large light gray car that day, with three men in it. Moments later it becomes clear that the ride is going to end badly and he has been kidnapped.

The vehicle with the three men and the 41-year-old Chilean is heading for the city of The Hague, to a home in the Moerwijk-West district. Police do not yet know where the house is. It would be a house in the vicinity of four streets in The Hague: Bellamystraat, Nieuwlandstraat, Pieter Langedijkstraat and Betje Wolffstraat.

Caught and mistreated

In a house there, the man is held captive and mistreated. The victim says the kidnappers demanded money from him. He was beaten there for more than two weeks, until he attempted to flee on Monday, September 26, around 09:30. Successfully. He jumps out of a third-floor window and escapes his kidnappers. He ends up in a bed next to the house.

He was really badly injured, he also had burns.

Police Spokesperson

The Chilean is found a little later by employees of the municipality of The Hague. The man accosts the officials to take him to a police station. They arrive at the Zuiderpark police station around 10 a.m. There it becomes clear that the man is badly battered. Not much later, he is hospitalized.

“He was seriously injured, he also had burns,” said police spokesman Lilian van Duijvenbode in the investigation program ‘Bureau Rijnmond’. “When police officers from the agency later had this man taken to hospital, it turned out that he also had a broken back and a broken hip.”

The Dutch police report that the man has now left the hospital, but his recovery will take some time. “We are also looking for people who saw him come out of the house, because he managed to escape himself by jumping from so high,” said the police spokesman. “That could also explain the fractures.”

Complicated

It is not known whether the man is known to law enforcement or what his relationship to the kidnappers was. “The man does not know his attackers and he does not know why they kidnapped him, it sounds mysterious. “It remains a complicated story,” said the spokesman.

It is also unclear what the role of the three men in the car is. “We do not know at this time who they are or what their role has been in this incident. We are still busy with the investigation.”

Call

The victim has dark hair and a short beard. On the day of his escape, he was wearing gray pants, a gray sweater and black socks. The man had difficulty walking due to his injuries. Anyone who thinks they have more information about the case – both from Rotterdam and The Hague – is urged to contact the police.
