Children’s agenda: museums and free activities for this weekend

The Falklands Museum is scheduled for this Saturday, July 23 at 4:00 p.m., a participatory space with literature, music, and visuals. This is “Malvinas, a Territory of Words”, a workshop recommended for children from 10 years of age, based on the story “The Teacher”, by Laura Avila, which recreates the historical moment in which Argentine teachers taught Spanish in the islands of the South Atlantic. From the narration by the author, accompanied by the live sound and visual design of the composer and producer John Florid“an approach to our recent history will be encouraged to create a participatory space for boys, girls and young people.”

And the next day, Sunday 24, the same space presents the music workshop “Rap and Beatbox”by the rapper Bgirl, the Hip Hop culture activist Violeta Kala and DJ Rico Selectah. The Historical Museum of the Cabildo (Bolívar 65, CABA) has storytelling workshops, painting and magic shows at 11 a.m. throughout the weekend, as well as guided tours. And on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., a talk about the archaeological excavation.

The National Museum of Decorative Art (Av. del Libertador 1900, CABA), scheduled for Friday the 22nd at 3:00 p.m. the “Experimental Cloud Workshop”, which invites discover the clouds that hide in the Museum, and create his own technique to paint them, with unconventional materials and inspired by the work of Gaspar Libedinsky. And on Sunday the 24th at 3 pm there is the workshop “Rhythms that Build” to create a collective installation with different materials and synthesizer sounds.

Finally, the Sarmiento Historical Museum (Cuba 2079, CABA), on Saturday, July 23, children from 6 to 12 years old are invited to participate in “Máquinas de Mira”, a meeting to learn about and produce pre-cinema stage optical devices (19th century), and to know the direct antecedents of current cinema with simple and everyday elements, to assemble and understand the operation of a Zootrope, a Folioscope, a Kaleidoscope or simply some pieces of kinetic art through mobile devices.

And on Sunday the 24th there is a pinhole photography workshopin which a can camera will be built, we will experience the development and direct contact from the manufacturing (by Lola Latella and Ceci Estenopa).
