The hat of the deaf crook B2 from the TV series Bassie and Adriaan has officially become a museum piece. The wearer, clown and actor Joop Dikmans, died a year ago at the age of 92. The Heerhugowaarder’s children wanted a nice place for his belongings and memorabilia and now find it in the media museum Beeld & Geluid in Hilversum. “It’s great that it can go there. It has a purpose there,” said his daughter Trudy.
It was quite a moment for brother and sister Joep (69) and Trudy (66) Dikmans; rummage through their father’s things one more time and then leave them at Sound & Vision. But they are happy that it will have a nice place. “You rarely look at it yourself,” Trudy admits. “And Sound & Vision turned out to be interested,” adds Joep. “Then we’ll be happy to take it there.”
What do you say?
Joop Dikmans is best known to most as villain B2 of Bassie and Adriaan. “What do you say?” was his favorite saying, because he never quite understood what was said. He passed away last year just before Christmas at the age of 92.
His two children searched for months all their father’s things out. “We kept some things ourselves, but a lot also went to family, friends and acquaintances,” says Joep. His sister becomes emotional when she talks about her father. “It’s his old life as an artist, with my mother, that you’re getting rid of.”
Unique hat
B2’s famous hat, as well as photos, posters, books, instruments and magic tricks, are now all safe at Sound & Vision. According to collection manager Erwin Voorhaar, the hat is unique. “We don’t have anything from Bassie and Adriaan here. This is the first. It will soon get a nice place in the exhibition here.”
