Children discover the world of water at De Gavers

During workshops, the Harelbeek school children learn to use water consciously, especially tap water. A unique project of the Watergroep, the province and city of Harelbeke.

“The children learn how tap water is produced and the importance of tap water,” says Tine Vandermeersch of De Watergroep. “They also face their water consumption and increasing water scarcity.”

“Learned young is done old,” explains ships Tijs Naert. “Handling water wisely is important. Also with trees and forests that are an important part of water management. So it is very important that we start working with this at a young age.”

It is clear that the children have really learned something this afternoon. And that went very far, even a workshop in vegetarian cooking.
