The kickers from SC Kiezmove Friedenau are angry. They’re not allowed to play, but trucks have been parked on the artificial turf for days…’
Not much has happened here since the district office gave notice to the club in the summer of 2020. Only a fence blocks access.
The construction of a second sports hall is planned. But instead of excavators and cranes, there are now vans from a TV production company.
“Cars instead of sports facilities for the children – nobody understands that,” complains Sebastian Howe, board member of Kiezmove Friedenau. “The children climb over the fence. It’s a matter of time before an accident happens.”
Howe and his kickers are reclaiming the pitch to the public.
When asked by the BZ, a spokeswoman for the district office said that nothing was known about the use of the parking lot. There is no request for it. The Friedrich Bergius School, to which the square belongs, would not have approved it either. Only the neighboring sports hall was to be used for other purposes for a week.
“The district office will immediately ensure that the cars get away,” promises the spokeswoman.
However, it is unclear whether Kiezmove will soon be allowed to kick back here again. As early as August last year, following a motion by the Greens parliamentary group, the decision was made that the space must be released for leisure sports. Nothing has happened yet!
“The situation should be remedied quickly,” said Astrid Bialluch-Liu, sports policy spokeswoman for the Greens in the district. “There is a great shortage of sports facilities for the clubs in Friedenau.”
