The incident happened around 5:15 p.m. What exactly happened is not yet known. It is also unclear how many people were in the house and what the relationship of the suspect with the child was.
The victim was taken to hospital but did not survive. The police do not yet want to release the age of the child, according to Algemeen Dagblad (AD).
According to a spokesman for the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, the suspect is active as a soldier. For that reason, the Marechaussee, the military-style police in the Netherlands, has taken over the police’s spokesperson.
Police are investigating the home where the stabbing took place.
