Many families are having a hard time due to the current inflation. The regular increase in child benefit is especially welcome now. That is why the cabinet is withdrawing the bill not to index child benefits. This decision was partly made at the request of a motion from the Senate.

The previous cabinet decided not to index child benefits in the coming years in order to be able to invest in improving the services of UWV and the SVB. This choice would ensure that child benefit would not increase in line with current price increases (inflation) in the coming years. This can have a negative effect on the income of families. That is why the cabinet has decided to put an end to the plans. Child benefit will be increased twice a year in the coming years, as usual, based on the average price development.

In order to be able to improve the services provided by the UWV and the SVB, the cabinet has made additional resources available.
