Child (8) buried under sand, rescue services warn: “Do not dig tunnels”
The incident happened around 10.30 am on the beach between Loodswezenplein and Hendrikaplein. A child got stuck in a well after digging a tunnel. It was momentarily buried in sand.

Emergency services rushed to the scene to free the victim. According to local police, the child has since been removed from the well and taken to hospital. The victim is not in danger.
Chief rescuer Thomas Vereecke calls for no tunnels to be dug in the sand. The lifeguard post of Nieuwpoort is conducting a campaign.
