British retailer Next Plc is facing a change at the top of its finance department. On Monday, the group announced that Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Amanda James will step down next year.
James will step down from the board of directors on July 26, 2024 and will leave the company on September 26, according to a statement. The manager, who has been working at Next for 28 years and took up her current position in spring 2015, had been planning the move for a long time, the retailer said. Her husband will also be retiring at the same time.
James’ successor has already been chosen. According to Next, Jonathan Blanchard will become the group’s new CFO. Blanchard is currently CFO and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the fashion brand Reiss, in which Next has held a majority stake since 2022. The financial expert will move to Next next February and take over the position of chief financial officer in July and join the board of directors, the company announced.
