The top players of the Tata Steel Chess Tournament traditionally play almost all their games in the De Moriaan village hall in Wijk aan Zee. Almost, because in recent years the organization has moved to an alternative location at least once during the tournament. From the Rijksmuseum to the Arena in Amsterdam and from Sound & Vision in Hilversum to De Vest theater in Alkmaar. In next month’s edition, chess will be played in the Circustheater in Scheveningen.
Defending champion Anish Giri announced the location today in a video on YouTube. This is the ninth round of the Masters. That is in the schedule for Tuesday, January 23. The tournament, the 86th edition, starts on Friday, January 12 and lasts until January 28, 2024.
