Pop legend Cher was given a special honor at the last “Wetten, dass ..?” broadcast on Saturday evening (November 25th): actor and singer Jan Josef Liefers sang Sonny-and as a bet, together with his colleague Stefanie Stappenbeck Cher classic “I Got You Babe.” Liefers played the guitar while the musician sat right next to them on the betting couch.
Cher took the performance with a (diplomatic?) smile. She didn’t want to get carried away singing along, only once she enhanced the singing with a short “Babe”. Cher released the hit with her ex-husband Sonny Bono in 1965. “I Got You Babe” is one of the most famous duets of all time. Liefers and Stappenbeck rewritten the last chorus as a Gottschalk farewell.

Cher to Liefers and Stappenbeck: “You did a good job”
“You did a good job,” Cher praised the performance. “It’s still a great song and you did it beautifully,” she said. Cher had previously thrilled the audience herself with a performance – although it wasn’t “I Got You Babe”, but rather her song “DJ Play A Christmas Song”, which was released in 2023, that she performed.
