“A Surreal Feeling”
On Deadline Day, Chelsea signed a new centre-forward in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (33), a day later the “Blues” clarified another personality in attack. Armando Broja’s contract, which was originally valid until 2026, was prematurely extended until 2028.
“I’m really at a loss for words just thinking about it. It’s the club I’ve played for all my life, the club I support and the club I love. I’ve been here since I was a little boy, it’s a surreal feeling for me and my family,” the 20-year-old said in the press release. Broja joined Chelsea youth at the age of eight and made his professional debut in 2019. After two years on loan at Vitesse Arnhem (11 goals in 34 games) and Southampton FC (9 goals in 38 games). With the “Saints”, the right-footed player increased his market value from 3 million to 22 million euros, making him the most valuable center forward in the Blues squad at the moment. This season he was used three times under Thomas Tuchel.
“Being able to don the blue jersey for the first team is a dream come true. It’s amazing every minute to be on the pitch because this is one of the biggest clubs in the world. There’s always competition and everyone wants to play, so I’m just glad I have the opportunity to be a part of it. Hopefully I can play a lot of games and be a part of the team’s success,” Broja continued.
