Change by opt-out clause?
After the surprising dismissal of Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea are pushing for a quick succession plan for the vacant position of head coach. As “The Athletic”the “BBC” and Fabrizio Romano unanimously report the Blues are in talks with Brighton & Hove Albion’s Graham Potter on Wednesday about a deal.
The “Seagulls” have reportedly given their clearance for official negotiations after Chelsea signaled their willingness to pull the release clause in the 47-year-old Englishman’s contract, which runs until 2025. Even the courted Potter himself is said to have given his consent for those talks.
An alternative solution is Mauricio Pochettino, who is currently without a club after his departure from Paris Saint-Germain – the Argentine is said to be able to imagine the Chelsea job as well. The “Telegraph” had brought other names into play with ex-Real coach Zinédine Zidane and Benfica Lisbon’s Roger Schmidt.

Chelsea: Tuchel’s exit was already certain before the defeat in the Champions League
Tuchel’s exit at Chelsea came a day after the 0-1 draw at Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, with the decision said to have been made before the game. “We are clearly not where we need to be and where we can be. So it’s up to me, it’s up to us, we have to find solutions,” said Tuchel on Tuesday evening. In recent months, the German has worked closely alongside new owner Todd Boehly, strengthening the squad for €282m. His new boss had a quick solution ready.

After around 20 months, the club management would like to reorient itself when filling the head coach position. “As the new ownership group approaches the 100-day mark since the acquisition and continues the hard work to take the club forward, the new owners believe it is the right time to make the move,” it said a press release from the Londoner. In his first season, Tuchel celebrated winning the Champions League with the Blues and thus secured an important place in the club’s history.
