In the current season, Chelsea FC has never been better and Brighton has never been worse off than in 9th place. Last season, too, the Seagulls were in the table almost the entire time ahead of the Londoners, who are now poaching another personnel from their competitors. Scouting boss Sam Jewell is moving to the capital, which is not far away, and is the eleventh official or player to take this path in the last year and a half.
The move was announced by the Brighton club before the Blues, who announced that they would release Jewell until his departure. Jewell has already reached an agreement with Chelsea, according to a statement from the team from the south coast.

Jewell’s predecessor as head of the scouting department, Kyle Macaulay, also made the move from Brighton to Chelsea in 2022, along with head coach Graham Potter, who took his assistants Billy Reid, Björn Hamberg, Ben Roberts and Bruno Saltor with him. The latter acted as interim coach for one game after Potter was fired early. Chelsea’s current sporting director Paul Winstanley also came from Brighton in 2022, before the flow of Seagulls players to Stamford Bridge began in 2023. Chelsea paid almost 29 million euros for goalkeeper Robert Sánchez, more than 65 million euros for full-back Marc Cucurella and even 116 million euros for Moisés Caicedo. In the table, Brighton is in seventh place with three points more than the Blues. Chelsea, which has spent more than a billion euros on player transfers since the summer of 2022, is tenth.
